ConteXtream FOA Cocktail Party
This Saturday my father’s company had their office event party and invited me to do the catering. First time I made something like this on my own. There were 60 guests invited but I ended up making way too much food. Learning about the quantities is something that takes time I suppose. The night went smoothly, no surprises and disasters and the food came out just like I imagined. It took a lot of effort for not only myself but everyone who help... Read More
Little Snacks In Tel-Aviv
My job of hunting down the best snacks and little bites in Tel-Aviv is never over. Read my last post about grabbing a bite in Tel-Aviv here. Notice the burger signs which are part of my new Rating System. 3 burgers is the best score for a snack and zero means – Avoid. For me, the best place to buy fresh products in Tel-Aviv is Ha’Carmel Market. After hours of groceries shopping, anyone has to stop for a bite. There are many options... Read More
Ha’Salon, Go To A Michelin Star Restaurant Instead
Omer surprised me and took me to The Salon (Ha’Salon). I didn’t know anything about this place other than it’s Eyal Shani’s and it’s open only twice a week. Turns out that this place really made a buzz, a very unique kind of buzz. Shani has several restaurants already in Tel-Aviv and had appeared in several cooking TV shows. He has his own followers crowed, a niche. My impression is that his philosophy to food is... Read More
No Need For An Excuse To Have Some Tart
Ever since I’m back from Paris the most attractive dish I keep making is tart. “Why won’t you make Tarte Aux Pommes for us?” I keep hearing. There’s no reason why not. It’s very simple and so delicious. I expected that after one batch there will be more requests so I made enough dough to last for 4 tarts, at least. Also it was a first time for me using the food processor for the dough. Until then I always made... Read More
Camping: Everything Tastes Better Over The Fire
This weekend I went camping with my friends in the forest of the city Nemours. It was so much fun, reminded me of La”g ba’Omer celebrated every year with my friends in high school. We arrived Friday night and as soon as we got there, people started building the Bonfire which stayed on for the entire weekend! Why am I writing about it in my food blog? Because it was a constant eating and drinking fest! We started eating as soon as the fire... Read More
Three Days In The Patisserie And One Big Case Of Frustration
Yesterday I had a very frustrating day in the restaurant and it made me feel like things are not really going as I want them to. I know there’s always bad days whatever you choose to do but it’s different this time. As I already mention in few older posts, my plan for the last two months of my stage were doing a month in the patisserie and a month in the gastro kitchen. I talked to my chef about it and he said he’s okay with that.... Read More
About The Importance Of Reserving Ahead & Chez Françoise Sunday Dinner
I had a visit this month from my cuisine Lily and her husband and friends. We went to the Sunday show “How to become a Parisian in one hour”, it was very funny although I’m already a bit familiar with the Parisians life style, it does explain a lot about how to behave in this city, which is like nowhere in the world! Very recommended! Anyway, it was a Sunday early evening and without reservations ahead to anywhere, the guys wanted... Read More
Kouign-Amann And Curry Night
Last week I was invited to Chantelle’s place who has an oven (!). I just happened to get some Kouign-Amann dough ready for baking from the restaurant. These are cookies which are the specialty of Breton and made with bread yeast dough, butter and sugar. When baked they spread and the sugar melts down to caramel and sticks to the bottom of this puffy butter pastry. They make it in Ledoyen and we usually get to eat these which didn’t look... Read More

Thrown To The Language Deep Water and Pictures Of The Day
Today was a weird day. Since yesterday I have a cold or something, probably from working in the garde manger all day freezing from the chilling wind. Everything seemed harder in the physical aspect. We had five different events of about 20-30 people, each with a different menu. But the harder thing was the language barrier again. It keeps being a major issue: slowing me, keeping me behind all the rest. Chef Chevrou, the stressed one I already mentioned,... Read More
Cooking In My Tiny Studio
It makes me happy that I have some time to cook for myself, for friends and just for fun in my own tiny tiny kitchen. I recently bought a japanese mandolin (for life!!!). I hang it on the wall as a picture because the landlord’s picture was ugly and there’s no other reachable place for it, so it seems suitable: My mandolin This small and innocent looking tool is a powerful tool in the home kitchen as well as in the professional kitchen.... Last Pastry Class, Galette des Rois
Sadly the first day back at school was also the last pastry class. Having no idea what’s it gonna be this time we’ve received the recipe for Galette des Rois. I had no idea what it is but a quick look at the recipe made me realize we’re about to make puff pastry again. Turns out this cake is another traditional dessert for the holiday and can be found in the bakeries only on the month of January. You can read all about it here but... Read More
