Wednesday evening Anat took me to Jerusalem to meet up with Shir and Ishay for some bonding time all four of us. We had to postpone this get-together until we found a decent place to eat with a coupon. It took time, there aren’t many good deals in Jerusalem. Luckily “Kyoto express” deal was out so we went for it.
I hate asking the waiter to take a picture but someone else asked so what the hack |
We split 3 combinations and a pad-thai. I only had a small taste of the pad thai (45 nis) and it was standard, with chicken. Maybe a smaller portion than what we’ve hoped.

The Maki Sansuko combination with fish, 18 pieces (66 nis) was a bit boring, every roll with avocado. Big pieces of fish inside which is admirable. The 6 pieces of veggi roll was redundant.
The veggie combo (42) was 18 pieces of the same thing. They only have one way of making veggie roll, that’s a shame.
The special combo (89 nis) had greater verity, with the sunshine roll (3 fish in and out) and some nigiri. It looked pretty.

The tamago didn’t look that appealing and that’s an understatement, and we noticed they used the wrong kind of rice, not sushi rice for sure.
unprofessional tamago and rice |
We did enjoy the atmosphere that was young and cool and the service was fine too. So if you’re going mainly to meet up and chat, while grabbing a bite, it can be quite nice (if you have a coupon like we did). We end up paying 166 nis + tip for the whole meal and none of us was hungry after that. We did have place for icecream. I didn’t take a picture of it but it wasn’t a hit and the service was awful. I don’t remember the name of the place but it’s right next to Kyoto express, Biet hakerem, Jerusalem.
