Thursday afternoon I went to the French Consulate to apply for my student visa. It went OK I think and I was out of there after one hour. I had a whole hour to spare until my meeting with Koral at Suzette on Pinsker st. I used the time to walk around shops but it was a hot day, not so nice to walk outside. At the end, Koral had beat me to the place and arrived before me. The AC wasn’t that good, we continued to sweat inside the place as well. Koral made up a new term in hebrew that’s called Le’hitkapen, which means, “to couponize”, and so we did couponize with a 60 nis coupon each.
We both ordered the Mozzarella crepe with pesto cream, tomatoes and artichokes (52 nis). I also took the carrot juice with extra ice (12 nis). They make their savory crapes with buckwheat so it’s healthier (more fibers and protein then white wheat) but the taste is very noticeable and a bit overwhelming.

I think it was basically very tasty but a bit dry. I wanted it to have more of this wonderful pesto cream and salad. Also the amount of buffalo mozzarella made it quite heavy on my tummy afterwards. We got the bill inside this charming wooden box.
After that I went home to rest a bit before the weekly Lindy hop swing dance class. Sharin Joined me this time and after sweating a lot (was still a very hot evening), we went to grab Sushi at River (Iben Gavirol st.).
We had the 1+1 coupon on all the special rolls. I asked if any roll can be changed to white fish instead of salmon or red tuna and I was told that it’s impossible. It was a bit disappointing because the special didn’t seem so special, and many of the options were baked fish. I prefer raw fish in my sushi. So I ordered one with tuna and one with salmon (32 nis each) and Sharin took the fried roll with baked salmon and surimi and another fried with salmon (35 nis each).
After a while the waitress mentioned to us that unfortunately there’s no avocado today, so they’ll be using sweet potato instead. We weren’t pleased, as most of the rolls we took were based on avocado. I asked to change to shitake mushrooms. Second disappointment.
When they brought the plates they put Sharin’s roll in the middle of my plate, and we had to ask for another plate to move it to. Very unprofessional and third disappointment of the evening.
In the end it was all filled and covered with sweet potato and I could barley feel the mushrooms. Besides, it was rolled fine and was tasty. Tamar then came and helped us finish all this amount.
Unfortunately it ended up with us being banished out of there after the kitchen was closed, the bill being miscalculated (and argued about) and hearing the waitresses whispering behind us that they wished we would go home already. Forth disappointment that left us with a bitter feeling. Hmm. I guess I’m not going back there..
