Shavuot caused this week to have “two weekends” so we had extra family meals (always nice).
Good weekend morning begins with a variation of bacon and eggs. This time, without bacon and with a variety of “other meats” fried on pan. I’m referring to it as “other meats” for the reason that they came from a surprise package containing ends and leftover of the pastrami section of “Stop Market” (our selected supermarket). It’s cheap and can be very worthy sometimes. I don’t think they sell it on regular supermarkets and even if they do, the Kosher cold meats aren’t that worth it I guess.
Surprise!!

What to do with all the bananas my dad’s buying? Some of it I sliced and froze. With others I made this cookie sandwich assembled as following: Butter cookie, peanut butter, chocolate spreading (Ha Shachar), two slices of banana, chocolate spreading, peanut butter and, yes, butter cookie!
We were still left with much too bananas to consume, next post will be about that entirely.
Saturday continued fast and my hunger bugged me yet once again. Going down to the kitchen I caught dad already cooking something with the pressure cooker. It was his famous red cabbage comfit. This time he made it with green apples as well. I thought about using the ground beef, so together we agreed to ball the meat and boil it inside the cooking cabbage. I added some mixed seasoning to the meat and balled it.
Next, inserted into the cabbage:
And voila! Barak and mom kept remembering some Swedish meatballs they eat with honey-mustard so they tried it with mustered and it combined well (a lot better according to these two).
At late evening our bellies started growling once again. This time I was busy and Barak was hungrier so I just threw the words “Shrimp with butter and garlic” to the room and continued with what I was doing. Soon enough the house was filled with butter-shrimp aroma. When we were called to eat I saw my fantasy came true – a pan full of shrimp with butter, champagne and garlic, on the balcony table with the nice evening breeze. Perfect way to finish the second weekend this week. It indeed was simple and delicious.
