I’ll describe briefly the food I ate outside the house the past ten days or so.

I returned to “Shpetza’le” Hod hasharon with Safta Jean and Elisheva:

Safta took the eggplant with tehini and cilantro, I tasted it and it was nice, although I'm not a fan of eggplant. Safta said it had too much oil on top.

The crispy squid. Standard, but soft

Chicken liver with caramelized onions on mashed potatoes

Elisheva took the Polenta with mushrooms. Was very good. I wished they used better kind of mushroom or a mix and not only the cheapest kind.

the bill, had a "fire" in it. The business lunch had a first course in the main course price (49 and 59 nis )

To sum up my second visit to Shpezal’e – they took too much time to bring the food this time. After a long while nibbling on the first courses the waitress asked if we already want them to start (!) cooking our main courses. Everything was tasty but a bit too heavy and fatty.

With Pablo and Lia grandparents I went to eat at “Derbi bar”, Ramat Aviv.

The salads at the beginning

Shrimps in tomatoes sauce and fried squids

We went to the Derbi the worse day of the year (lunch on the 9 of aav evening, it was overcrowded) ย so this is the excuse to the horrible service and medium experience.

One day I went to the beach for a nice dip with Tamar, and brought a cake from “Lechamim” to eat at the beach.

The beach did not disappoint

The company was nice as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Ricotta cheese cake with crumbs

The cake was tasty but the base of it was brioche. Not a good idea.

And the last dinner out was when I went with Maya for a last coupon hangout and food at “The container” Jaffa port.

Huge warehouse, great breeze right at the port

Our bartender was in his second day but really tried to be nice.

On the house, some refreshments to begin with

bread with butter and olives, also complementary

Calamari salad with black lentils, pine nuts (55 nis) I liked it but Maya thought it was too spicy

Tortellini with fish and shrimp, butter and sage. Well done, Maya liked but didn't fall off her chair

fresh fish ceviche. It was ok but something tasted weird, I tasted eggplant though I think there wasn't any. Something in the seasoning bothered me.

The dessert was chocolate crunch, the only dessert me and Maya could agree on. The melon balls were lacking flavor and didn't go together with the dessert itself

The porcupine I saw on the way home. Cute!

To sum up the Containerย experience: there’s a nice atmosphere, concept and interesting dishes, but has to be a bit polished. The dishes are served quite big portions, notย precise and not appealing on the eye. I would prefer having them smaller but excellent. But if you like the rustic style, it can be perfect for you.

Next update will be from Paris. I’m in the middle of packing and arranging all the documents and stuff I need. A bitย nervousย but a lot excited.

This was a magnificent year in Tel-Aviv. I will miss it and all of you guys, who joined me with all these experiences.

Keep posted!
