Summer in Tel-Aviv… Sun. Humidity. The beach. Sand and sea water going up my nose. Flip-flops. Ice coffee and frozen grapes. A raging rise of the vegan craze mixed with natural urges for carnivorism. A big gap between the fresh memories of the passing year in Paris and the present local existence. Missing the friends I left behind, renewing old friendships, meeting new people. Discovering myself anew. It was a great summer.
These are some of the dishes I cooked in this Israeli summer… Some are “local-jams” that I was longing for, some are attempts to imitate the new world I discovered the past year. Some are just dishes that we cook when we’re hungry.

The 12 cheeses I brought home with me were gone quickly. Before they did I tried imitating the three fromages with a poached pear tartine at home, but with five fromages instead. Mom loved it.

Also I brought with me this microwave plaque which supposed to make chips from all sort of things. It wasn’t a big success.. We tried potato and pear but it just took too long and didn’t crisp enough.

Making our own Masabacha – cooked chickpeas served warm with tehini, lemon, chopped red onions and garlic oil

Polenta with poached pear, garlic shrimp and sour cream-blue cheese sauce. A very good way to start the day.

With some bacon and the leftover of the wine sauce from the meal I cooked

Trying to imitate the famous recipe of Ouefs pochés Bourguignonne

I was asked to make Chraime (spicy fish) for the holidays. like I cooked for my Moroccan friends.

For the same dinner we also made few salads: bulgur (wheat) with granny smith, plums, mint, lemon and red onions.

Was pretty good! After this last meat dinner we found this is is the way to go – cook our own steak dinner.

We made three different chimichuris – I took the basil and chopped with with lemon zest, chilies, onions and olive oil. It became pretty spicy.

My mom made the other two chimichuris to go with the BBQ assado, my dad grilled the meat and vegetables

Hmmm mushrooms on the grill. You can read my last post about the dessert I baked for this dinner – Tarte Normande.

Another crêpe morning – this time a normal white wheat flour and lindt chocolate melted on top – delicious! (There was dulce de leche also of course)
Whooo that was a lot of food and much more is coming up for the months of the autumn.
איזה קיץ מופלא זה היה
משבי, את משוגעת! זה נראה אדיר! ואיך את לא שוקלת 90 ק”ג זו אניגמה עבורי:)
