Soon after our last visit to Thai House, we returned and had another extra-spicy delightful evening. This time we were suggested a special out-of-the-menu dish which was very spicy in an odd way. We hated and loved it at the same time. We’re cursing it but already addicted. We can’t stand it, but already missing it the next day.

This is what we had:

Tulip Mostly Cabernet Franc 2010

Papaya Salad "SOM TAM" - Green Papaya stripes, cherry tomatoes, yard long beans (in season), ground peanuts, garlic & squeezed lemon juice (28 NIS). I adore Som Tam. This version was not bad and resembles the original except for the dehydrated shrimp which were lacking here.

"Pasa" - lettuce, noodles, fried fish, mint, coriander, dill, spicy tamarind, peanuts, lemon zest. So many things in one fabulous bite. One of the dishes in the specials menu.

Cucumber and shrimp salad, wide bean noodles and seaweed. It was sweet and sour and a very light and fun dish.

Sliced Roasted Beef "NEUA YANG" , Roughly sliced Roasted Beef served with traditional hot sauce (46 NIS). Excellent way to eat a steak. The sauce was a great match, the meat tender and red in the center. Simple but successful dish.

Morning Glory “Phak Bung” sauteed in flames with brown bean sauce, garlic and chili peppers (48 NIS). Another one of my favorites. Last time we ate that dish combined with pork but the greens only version is excellent too.

Pat Pad Cha - Goose with chili and herbs (90 NIS). This is one of the specials that aren't written in the specials menu. If you show interest in the very spicy dishes you may be suggested that dish by your waiter. We thought it was very tasty and not so spicy like mention, but five minutes later the affect hit. Everything turn so hot that did not let go, doesn't matter what came in mouth. I was red and teary and we're all used to spicy food! A dish that really slows down the eating rhythm.

Recommended if you’re looking for a challenge.

"MOO THOT KATYAM PRIK THAI", Deep-fried sliced pork with garlic & black pepper, with thai hot sauce on the side (69 NIS). The less successful part of the meal came as tough bits of pork lard and some pork meat deep fried. Reminded us of pub-food and although it's one authentic Thai dish, it wasn't the right time or place for it.

This time we passed on the desserts and went straight to Cono afterwards, just across the street, to get some Italian ice-cream.

We’re always happy to visit Thai House, as it’s never a disappointment.
